Newport Vessels NV-Series Saltwater Transom Thrust

Description

The Newport Vessels NV-Series Thrust Saltwater Transom Mounted is a reliable and efficient electric trolling motor that is perfect for any fishing excursion. With a 46lb thrust, this motor provides excellent power for any boater. It runs quietly, ensuring that you don't scare away any fish. The motor is designed to run all day long without overheating or making noise.

This motor comes with a range of features that enhance its performance. It has a 30-inch shaft, a 5 LED battery meter, a 6-inch telescoping tiller handle, and a 3-blade propeller. The mount angle, height, and direction are all adjustable and can be locked into place when needed.

With 8 speed options, 5 forward and 3 reverse, this motor gives you flexibility and control. It is designed for trolling, with a top speed of 3.5mph (actual top speed may vary depending on boat shape, weight, water, wind, and other factors). The 3-blade propeller provides excellent low-end torque to get the boat moving.

To power the 46lb motor, you will need one 12V Lead-Acid Deep Cycle or Lithium Deep Cycle battery (not included). A 50ah battery is recommended, and the motor includes a 40amp circuit breaker to protect from battery voltage surges. The maximum amp draw is 40A.

Newport Vessels trolling motors are made with high-quality materials to withstand both fresh water and saltwater. They offer excellent reliability, and the company provides industry-leading customer service and a 2-year warranty on their products.

Now, let's address some frequently asked questions:

Q: Will it be good for 5-person with beer coolers, wooden fishing boat, about 2000 pounds, with dogs and still be fast if I only have 300?

A: NO, NO, NO. It is not recommended to have all those factors and expect the motor to perform well. The recommended solution would be to lose 4 people, take 1 beer cooler, and 1 dog. However, it's unclear what you mean by "if I only have 300."

Q: I have a 12-foot aluminum boat, will this motor push it around?

A: I have a 12' Valco Aluminum boat, and this motor pushes it around pretty well in the 5th forward speed. I reached speeds of around 5-6 mph. I haven't tested it for extended periods, so I can't speak to the battery life. The motor provides a good push, especially when you kick it into the 5th gear. I haven't tried it in strong headwinds or currents yet.

Q: How many amps does this motor draw in high speed?

A: The 36lb NV Series motor draws 29 Amps at top speed.

Q: I want to know the horsepower of the Newport Vessels 55 Pound Thrust 8 Electric Trolling Motor to see if it is allowed in the lake I want to use it in.

A: Electric motors are not rated in horsepower, but the motor has a thrust rating of 75.5 newton-meters, which is approximately equivalent to 55.68 ft/lbs of thrust. You can use this information to determine if it meets the requirements of the lake you want to use it in.

Frequently Asked Questions

will it be good for 5 person with beer coolers wooden fishing boat so like 2000 pounds with dogs and still be fast i only have 300

NO,NO, NO, Lose 4 people, take 1 beer cooler, and 1 dog and maybe ( and you only have 300 what? )

I have a 12 foot aluminum boat will this motor push around this boat

I have a 12' Valco Aluminum boat and it pushes it around pretty good in the 5th forward speed. Prob got up to 5 or 6 mph. I never did it for very long though so not sure how long the battery would last doing that all day. Goes pretty slow until you kick it into the 5th gear and then you feel a nice push. Also have not tried it into any kind of head wind or current.

how many amps is this motor in high speed?

Hi,The 36lb NV Series motor draws 29 Amps at top speed. Hopefully this helps! If you have more questions or need additional help, please visit newportvessels.com or give us a call at (866) 721-0002! Our hours are M-F, 8:30am-4:30pm Pacific Time.Best,-NV Team

I want to know the horsepower of the Newport Vessels 55 Pound Thrust 8 Electric Trolling Motor to see if it is allowed in the lake I want to us it in?

Herbert, also consider that I use this motor on a 12' kayak. My average current use is 12Amps/hr - that is at a "3" setting on the handle. If I had a heavier boat, I would increase the power used by using the "5" setting (to maintain the equivalent speed). That would use about 20 amps/hr. So you can see that would almost double the power use that I would use, bring the HP rating to double the .193 HP/hr = .386HP/hr. But the battery life would be cut in half. If you had a double the size battery of 150Amp/hr battery - which is pretty large, you would end up with 2.316 HP/6 hours. I believe that would be the maximum case. One answer mentions thrust. I calculate a thrust of 75.5 newton meters = 55.68 ft/lbs. Some rounding errors there. That pretty well matches the 55 pound thrust specification. If anyone gives you any problem - tell them that electric motors are not rated in horsepower, but the motor does have a thrust rating of 75.5 newton-meters. Ask them if they could convert that to a equivalent HP rating? As they stare at you like you have 3 eyeballs, tell them that : "I have already made the conversion and it equals to .386HP at maximum thrust." Watch the person say : " Uhhhh-yea - that's about right ....good....uh ...do you have your life jacket?......yea?..great ..uh..gotta go......have a nice day!"Watch person jump into truck - peeling away wondering what in the heck a newton-meter is.
