Oregon Fishing Licenses Requirements
Before angling in Oregon's premier fishing locations, remember:
- Individuals aged 12 and older need an Oregon fishing license.
- With an Oregon Angling License, you can take or help another person take fish for personal use.
- Always keep your license (paper or electronic) handy for verification by law enforcement or Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife staff.
- All anglers need a valid Combined Angling Tag for salmon, steelhead, sturgeon, or halibut, irrespective of age.
- An additional Columbia River Basic Endorsement is necessary for anyone targeting salmon, steelhead, or sturgeon in parts of the Columbia River.
Oregon Fishing License Exemptions
Exceptions to needing a fishing license:
- Fishing during free fishing weekends.
- Capturing crayfish or bullfrogs.
- Resident landowners fishing on their land, excluding when fishing for salmon, steelhead, sturgeon, or halibut.
- Residents angling on land owned by immediate family, excluding salmon, steelhead, sturgeon, or halibut.
