Planning to use these roof pads to carry a kayak 12ft, 85lbs on a 70mph highway. That speed safe? How long before I need to check straps? If tied correctly, yes, that speed is safe in my experience. And you won't have to check it again for hours -again, with emphasis on "if tied correctly". But the quality of the knot is extremely important, otherwise you will get wobbling at high speeds.

Can I mount 2 10 ft kayaks using this? You can try it, but I wouldn't recommend it unless you really know what you're doing.

Will this work with surfboards? I would have no reason to think it wouldn't. Works very well for kayaks.
