The YAKIMA HoldUp +2 Add-On Extension is the perfect solution for extending your adventures and your bike rack. Designed to be used with the YAKIMA HoldUp rack (sold separately), this extension allows you to carry two more bikes, bringing the total capacity up to four bikes.
With its versatile design, the HoldUp +2 extension is compatible with 20" to 27.5" wheel sizes with tires up to 3" wide, as well as 29" tires up to 2.5" wide. It can accommodate various types of bikes, including those with disc brakes, thru-axles, and full suspension. With a total weight capacity of 200 lbs., you can confidently load four bikes onto this extension.
One of the standout features of the HoldUp +2 extension is its StrongArm design. This design secures your bikes at the wheel, providing maximum protection for your painted and carbon frames. The extension also tilts down with bikes loaded, allowing easy access to the back of your vehicle.
For added convenience, the HoldUp +2 extension offers side-to-side adjustability. This feature allows you to change the spacing between bikes, reducing interference while loading and unloading and preventing dings and scratches. Installation is a breeze, as it easily attaches to the YAKIMA HoldUp rack (sold separately) using a 2" hitch receiver.
When not in use, the HoldUp +2 extension can be folded up, ensuring it stays out of the way. It is a reliable and durable accessory that expands the capabilities of your YAKIMA HoldUp rack.
Now, let's address some common questions:
Q: I need this extension, but our rack is grey - any chance you have the extension in grey or know how we can find this?
A: I believe gray is for older models. Currently, the HoldUp +2 extension only comes in black.
Q: Will this work with the older grey base rack (also 2.0" receiver)?
A: I sent mine back because it didn't work with my older greyish base rack. The compatibility issue is not very clear, in my opinion.
Q: Is it fast and easy for one person to attach and remove the extra attachment if you only want to use when occasionally taking 4 bikes?
A: Attaching and removing the extension can be done by one person, but please note that it is heavy since it is made of metal. It requires one bolt to lock it in place. If you are able to lift the extension's weight without any issues, it shouldn't be too much trouble. It's important to keep in mind that this extension requires more ground clearance than using just the 2-bike holder due to its increased length.
Q: Is this Yakima PRODUCT #8002446?
A: Yes, the picture shows the "HOLDUP +2" carrier, which is an accessory for the HOLDUP #8002443 designed for a 2.0" hitch. Please note that it will not fit the HOLDUP model intended for a 1.25" hitch. The HOLDUP is an excellent carrier and can be expanded to a four-bike carrier by purchasing the #800446 extension. However, it is not a stand-alone carrier and is specifically designed to attach to the HOLDUP, not to a trailer hitch. Those who own both items have found this combination to be the best purchase they have ever made for transporting bikes.

Not sure how fast and easy you are asking but it is heavy since it is metal.Requires 1 bolt to lock it.I am doing it myself without others help.
