Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to order one or two? Really not clear.

How do these lock to the crossbars themselves?

Depending on the attachment mechanism you use on the cross bars, their is a bolt inside the ski racks so that when the ski rack is locked the bolt can't be reached and thus the ski rack can't be removed. I use the old style round bar attachment pieces. If you have the other types of cross bar attachments, what I have noticed is that there is a hex screw that locks the attachment mechanism onto the crossbar.

I have Thule aero bars. For the purpose of garage door clearance, how far above my bars will the top of the fat cat sit?

Using the standard mounting brackets, the tops of the FatCat EVO rack will sit 4.5" above the top of the crossbar. You can lower this distance to 3.5" by purchasing our Smart-Slot Kit 2 (item 8003098 - sold in a pack of 4) that will allow the racks to be mounted in the T-slot on your Thule aero bars.
