Poseidon Paddle - Lightweight Aluminum Shaft

Poseidon Paddle - Lightweight Aluminum Shaft

Description

This Poseidon paddle is a limited edition with a unique design featuring the U.S. flag on one of the blades. This quality paddle is ideal for recreational paddlers between 5'0' and 6'0' in kayaks between 28' and 32' wide. The Poseidon paddle consists of a two-piece aluminium shaft with a push-button and fiberglass reinforced polypropylene blades. The blades ensure better durability and performance on the water. It offers an excellent value for money.

It offers a unique ergonomic shaft design. The right side of the shaft changes from a rounded shape to a slightly oval shape that tells you where to place your hand. It's called indexing, which promotes proper technique that decreases wrist fatigue.

Inside the paddle, there are 2 additional flotation blocks allowing the paddle to float. This way, you will have no problem retrieving your paddle if it ends up in the water. Drip rings are installed at each end of the paddle. These rings will help keep your hands dry by preventing water from running down the shaft.

The POSEIDON kayak paddle offers great value for low-angle paddlers. Low-angle paddling will reduce shoulder fatigue and help you cover greater distances with less effort. The two-piece aluminum shaft with push button makes it easy to store and transport your paddle. Fiberglass reinforced polypropylene blades with a 0-65° blade angle adjustment creates a stiffer blade and provides a more efficient and comfortable paddling experience. Plus you'll keep your hands dry thanks to our drip rings.

It seems the drip rings on the 2020 version are not as good as the 2019 version. My 2019 drip rings hold in place on the shaft, but my wife's 2020 paddle drip rings slide all over the place (usually down to the blade), and so are ineffective at stopping water from running down the shaft to her hands. I did notice another difference between my wife's 2020 Poseidon paddle and mine. Her 2020 has a nice, almost rubbery-feeling coating on the shaft that makes the shaft feel very comfortable and easy to grip. Mine does not, and is basically just painted aluminum. Mine also has what appears to be a shaft made of multiple aluminum tubes joined together - not just the actual 2-piece joint, but a fixed joint nearer to my hands. My hands often slide to this joint, which has a bit of a sharp edge where one tube is inserted into the other. My wife's 2020 Poseidon has no such joints, only the 2-piece disconnect. FWIW, we'd been using a Carlisle Daytripper before getting the Poseidons, and the Daytripper now stays on shore. Huge upgrade and so quiet in the water. Love these paddles, but wish we could have the old drip rings on the new paddle.

When paddle is put together it measures ~90" in length, end to end. The blades measure about 18". I just tried this paddle out for the first time on Sunday, it's lightweight, easy to use, and the notch in the blades really does encourage water to drip down off blade, and not roll back on the shaft so much.

We got ours in two or three days.

For a few seconds, it gives you enough time to reach for it if it falls in the water but it is not to be left unattended on the water as it will sink.
