I still haven't found a way to secure my kayak completely with this lock system, nor the looped-cable version I purchased when this one didn't work for my situation (securing a kayak to an outdoor kayak stand). This one seems best suited to securing a kayak to the roof of a car, I think. I'd consult with the pros at a sporting goods shop to figure out what kind of cable and lock system would work for you. I don't know anything about the sit-on-top cable. The touring should be fine (that is what I have). I have a Delta 12 and the cable is long enough I have to/can wrap excess around the rack bars several times to take up the slack. I believe the total length of the cable is 16'.
