Fly Fish Virginia’s Finest Natural Trout Streams with Captain Mark | Thank Goodness I Fly Fish

Virginia’s Whitetop Laurel Creek is renowned as one of the premier Wild Trout streams in the Southeastern US. It runs alongside both the Appalachian National Scenic Trail and the Virginia Creeper Trail, providing convenient backcountry adventures just a short drive from Interstate 81 in Southwestern Virginia, a major transportation route in the eastern US.

Join Captain Mark, a knowledgeable stream specialist, for an unforgettable fly fishing experience targeting Brook, Brown, and Rainbow Trout. During this adventure, you'll engage in fly fishing, walking, and wading. It's important to note that all Trout caught will be released back into the stream, as these trips strictly adhere to catch-and-release practices. Rods, reels, flies, and lunch are all included for your journey.

The Whitetop Laurel section spans from the first railroad trestle above Taylor Valley to the mouth of Green Cove Creek at Creek Junction, as well as the portion upstream from the mouth of Straight Branch to the sign marking the Forest Service boundary just downstream of Taylors Valley.

Green Cove Creek's special regulation area extends from Rt. 859 downstream to its mouth. Situated east of Damascus, near the Tennessee line, it lies within the Mount Rogers Recreation Area.

Wolf Creek's defined section, including its tributaries, stretches from the Abingdon Muster Grounds in the Town of Abingdon. It extends from Colonial Avenue downstream to Stone Mill Road.
