Yakima DoubleDown 4 Bike Rack

Yakima DoubleDown 4 Bike Rack

Description

Gather your friends and head out on a cycling adventure with the Yakima DoubleDown 4 Bike Rack. It'll hold up to four bikes with SwitchBlade anti-sway cradles that keep everything securely in place and eliminate any worries about bikes bumping and scratching along the way. The DoubleDown folds down so you can access the back of your vehicle and add a last minute cooler of tasty beverages or an extra bag of cookies for the road. No more trying to fit a cooler over the headrests in the back seat. When you're done carrying bikes, the support bars fold down and out of the way until you need them for your next adventure.

This hanging rack allows you to carry any type of bike with traditional frame geometry; Bikes with slanted top tubes require the TubeTop adapter (sold separately)

Easy to install and load and designed to tilt out of the way when not in use; TriggerFinger technology lets you fold down the arms with one press of a button for a lower profile

The SwitchBlade anti-sway cradle eliminates bike-to-bike contact, preventing interference and scratches; Durable powder coat finish stands up to adventure

Protect your gear by adding a DeadLock (sold separately) to lock your bikes to your hitch mount and the hitch mount to your vehicle

Compatible with both 1-1/4' and 2' hitch receivers (class I, II, and III) right out of the box

My unit was just stolen with the factory key lock installed. The thief used a power drill to drill out the keyway to the lock, removed the lock and bolt, and off went my rack! A secondary system is recommended. On my next unit I'm going to have a loop welded through which I can chain the carrier to my hitch.

We have it on our minivan and it was tight with 3. I would definitely be concerned with 4. As it was, my chain got pulled and one of the bikes got scratched from putting on 3. We have 2 mountain bikes and a cruiser. You will need to purchase additional items if you have a cruiser and a woman's bike.

Yes, this would fit, but you would need to have the appropriate trailer hitch installed. I have this rack on my 2004 Forrester, and I had the hitch installed at U-Haul for about 200 including parts and labor.

Tough question ... there are straps for 4 bikes on the Yakima that I bought, but I, personally, would have a hard time fitting 4 bikes on it-- I've only done 2, and think 3 will work, but be tight.
