YAKIMA FullSwing Bike Rack - Swing-Away Design

Description

The YAKIMA FullSwing Swing-Away Hitch-Mounted Bike Rack for Cars is a versatile and reliable bike rack that allows you to carry up to 4 bikes on your next adventure. It is designed to fit traditional frame geometry bikes, although slanted top tube bikes will require the TubeTop adapter which is sold separately. Each bike should not exceed a maximum weight of 40 lbs.

One of the standout features of this bike rack is its swing-away design, which allows you to easily access your vehicle's trunk or hatch even with the bikes loaded. This convenience makes it hassle-free to grab any gear you need without having to remove the bikes. The rack also features Zero-hassle ZipStrips that securely hold the bikes in place, protecting them from dings and scratches.

For added convenience, the fully padded arms of the bike rack can be folded down when not in use, creating a lower profile. This feature is especially handy when parking or storing the rack. Assembling and installing the YAKIMA FullSwing is quick and easy, thanks to the tool-free locking SpeedKnob. The AutoPin automatically positions and secures the rack to the hitch and receiver.

When it comes to security, this bike rack includes SKS (Same Key System) locks. These locks provide peace of mind, ensuring that your bikes and the rack itself are protected from theft. With these locks in place, you can adventure without worrying about the security of your equipment.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Has anyone tried this with a jeep JK, and will it let me open the back gate all the way?

Yakima recommends using the SpareTime, a spare tire mounted bike rack with the Jeep. It is strongly discouraged to use a hitch extender with any bike rack, as it will especially one this heavy as you are at high risk of damaging your vehicle, rack and bikes. The tongue weight carrying capacity is typically reduced by about 1/2 with the use of an extender.

What is the distance from the center of the hitch to the side when the rack is swung out to the side? What is the effective clearance?

It is about 48 inches from the center of the hitch to the outside of the rack when swung fully open. We have a 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe Limited, which is a pretty wide SUV and with 4 bikes on the rack, it clears our vehicle easily. In my opinion, this is THE best full swing rack on the market and it is made VERY well, solid construction. When your bikes are on the rack, you can't even tell they are there while driving. I highly recommend this rack.

Will this rack work with Ford F-150? Is there enough space to open the tailgate?

Yes, I have it on a 2013 SuperCrew. Fully loaded with bikes, it will "give" slightly once completely extended but still works well. Great rack, totally recommended.

Will this fit on a 2005 Honda Pilot?

It will as long as you have a 2" tow hitch (receptacle) on the vehicle. It will not fit any smaller-sized hitch. I have it on my 2010 Acura MDX.
