YAKIMA EXO SwingBase: Hitch Base Rack

YAKIMA EXO SwingBase: Hitch Base Rack

Description

YAKIMA EXO SwingBase is a hitch-mounted base rack designed for the EXO system. It allows you to turn your 2” hitch into the ultimate gear-hauling foundation. This base rack serves as the starting point for all other EXO components (sold separately) and is compatible with class III and IV hitch receivers only.

The EXO SwingBase is incredibly adaptable, allowing you to easily switch out EXO components to meet your various adventure needs. With the EXO Cleat system and SpeedKnobs, you can go biking today, skiing tomorrow, and camping this weekend, all with one system.

One of the key features of the EXO SwingBase is its convenient access to your gear. Its swing design provides quick access to your vehicle's trunk, making it easy to reach your belongings. No need to worry about struggling to reach your gear anymore.

Installation is a breeze, and when you're not using the rack, it conveniently folds away. The EXO SwingBase also includes a HitchLock for added security. Its folding accessory arms allow you to leave it on your vehicle at all times without obstructing anything.

If you need additional storage space, you can add the EXO TopShelf (sold separately) to create a second tier of storage. With the EXO system, you never have to compromise your weekend goals due to limited storage capacity.

Now, let's move on to some frequently asked questions about the YAKIMA EXO SwingBase:

Q: I have a Lexus GX 460. The door pulls to the right when you open it. Can I still open the back door with the SwingBase 90 degrees open with bikes?

A: I also have a GX460, and yes, it swings out perfectly to the right, further than the door, allowing the GX door to open fully.

Q: Will the swing arm clear the tailgate of an F250?

A: Well, probably, but I'm wondering what the point would be to attaching one of these to the back of a pickup truck. The only reason I got this is that I have a camper van and not a pickup.

Q: Will the swing arm clear the back door of a Chevy Suburban or GMC Denali?

A: It depends. If your back door opens side to side, then definitely. If the door drops down, then maybe. The swing arm is about level with my bumper, so I have to swing it open to be able to open the left rear door on my van. Additionally, whatever you attach to the swing arm will also increase the height. I have a cargo basket, and I've been generally pretty happy with the system.

Q: Will this work for a 2015 Sienna, or will this be too much weight on the tongue?

A: It is only 80 lbs.
