The brim width on mine was about 2 1/2 inches, maybe a little less. It looks closer to the original Vietnam boonies that most of the wide brim hats made today.

22 1/2 inches would be little over a 7 1/4 in US hat sizes. So, we would say a Size Large (7 3/8 - 7 1/2) would fit you best. However, if you think that would be big on you, go with the Size Medium (7 1/8 - 7 1/4). Thank You
