FAQs:
Does it work for saltwater? NO. The previous model definitely was robust enough for saltwater. However, the new 2018 design has done away with metal teeth, and now features plastic parts for the Spyderlok rod holders. I would not trust the plastic version for any saltwater fish.
How long is the top cross bar? I haven't measured and my boat is currently covered for winter. But will estimate the cross bar is around 30 inches across. There is plenty of room for 4 rods yet the are close enough that I can quickly react to a bit when spider rigging. I have two of these rod holders with extra mount plates on the boat. I can spider rig on both side of the bow. I can place them on the stearn for long line trolling Crappie and drifting for Catfish. These holders are a bit pricey but there hell for stout, well made and worth every penny!
Does the base come with this rod holder? Yes the base comes with the rod holder.
What size is the thumb screws? Pretty sure screws are 1/4β
